Vintage Speed

Treated myself to some lid hinge covers, and pressure gauge.

As always fantastic quality and fast delivery given the distance.

Still tempted with a VS exhaust system, but will continue with the CSP Python for the time being.

Stateside Tuning Pushrods

Purchased some new high quality pushrods from Stateside Tuning:

http://www.statesidetuning.co.uk/newproducts.html

Finally found some time to cut the pushrods to length, and install the ends.

Pushrods accurately cut to length on the lathe and then using a curved mill chamfered the internal edge to allow fitment of the ends and allow proper seating.

Instead of "hammering" the ends in using the common method of an old lifer on each end, utilised the lathe again to "push" them home. (probably the most boring video on youtube, but someone might find it of interest!)

Finished!

Getting the valve geometry correct...

Rocker blocks too high for correct geometry, as such embarked on some milling following buying a basic slide for the lathe.

First step machining some bolts to mount the slide:

Then set the slide and trued it to bed.

Blocks then mounted in pairs within the vice to ensure matched sets, and took gradual horizontal cuts with the mill bit.

Third block simply to match height to other pair.

Worked well with some hand finishing needed:

Blocks in situ during measurement, adjustable pushrod in place.

Next job: cutting pushrods to length!

Carbs installed

Carbs installed and connected up to AN hoses, had quite a job getting the correct fitting for IDF as a number of variations in production, and still required machining to fit but does make removal a doddle.

Also installed heat isolating plates and the correct gaskets between manifold and carb.

All hooked up to a Holley T pressure junction and gauge so the required 3.5psi can be accurately dialed in.

New Venturi 34mm down from 36mm

After a long absence of car work, got distracted by new motorbike, now back at it and engine back in car + some carb refurbishment and improvement.

New Venturi purchased from eurocarb_ltd, installed and finished off with locating detent.

As installed, a small job but worth it.
