Silverline Bearings -v- Mahle???

Initially ordered some bearings and what was sent was Silverline with the non-grooved centre bearing. Upon fitting the flywheel end bearing was of poor shape with high spots, resulting in a jammed crankshaft when case buttoned up.

Initially I lightly smoothed off the high spots and managed to get a "fit" but again not overly happy with this given the pressures that are exerted on bearings/case.

Made a further order through another supplier and managed to get a set of Mahle? bearings (at almost double the cost), which came with the grooved centre bearing (very pleased).

The Silverline bearings seem to exhibit lots of high and low spots, whereas the more expensive Mahle badged bearings fit precisely and without the need for adjustment! Lesson learnt, on cheap(er) parts!
